Why Nu Base x Chepa initiative?

Nu base sewing academy celebrates a decade of excellent skills transfer within the fashion and clothing sector, having housed over 1000 entry level sewers who joined the academy with no prior sewing experience. The academy has taught students the fundamentals of pattern making and garment construction using domestic equipment and facilities to enhance their very primary objectives in sewing and pattern making. Even though the academy has been very successful in upskilling prospective sewers, the institution has joined forces and partnered with CCS (Chepa Corporate Services) to improve the efficiency of the sewing programmes and to expose students to a real-time experience of being a designer or a skilled seamstress using advanced and upmarket resources to carry out the learning.

Why partner with CCS? We have decided to partner with CCS (Chepa Corporate Services) because of its reputation in the corporate manufacturing and branding industry. CCS manufactures corporate clothing and brands merchandise in-house. They have the infrastructure and human capital that prospective sewers can learn from. There is a great opportunity for the students to learn beyond just making clothing: they get exposed to real-time processes of making clothes from concept to product, considering efficiency, time management as well as waste management systems. The academy's objective role is to ensure that students receive the closest possible experience and learning to that of a real-world clothing and manufacturing environment, and therefore CCS is a good role model to expose our prospective learners to such an industry.
